21 Screenings, 17 Visual Artists/Makers, 4 DJs, 1 Craft Corner, Panel discussions and surprise performances, plus you and all your friends!
Fairy Tales is Alberta’s only Queer arts festival held during International Pride Month, celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ stories through an electrifying blend of film, visual art, and live performance. Hosted at Contemporary Calgary, the four-day festival spotlights underrepresented voices in cinema and beyond, with screenings of bold, boundary-pushing films from around the globe. Alongside the films, the festival features a vibrant Artist Market showcasing local queer makers, DJ sets that keep the energy high, and a range of creative workshops that invite participants of all skill levels to explore storytelling through art. Alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks will be available at the Contemporary Calgary bar located in the Atrium.
The festival also hosts dynamic panel discussions and performance art showcases that foster dialogue, connection, and visibility. From drag to dance performances, these events highlight the creative brilliance and diversity of queer expression. Designed to be inclusive, accessible, and community-driven, Fairy Tales is more than a festival—it’s a gathering place for joy, resistance, and radical imagination.
